Hey---dealers work things out to save many of us the deductible every day......I know my dealer would work the whole deal at cost if I had your situation.....play it straight and ask what he can do----we all know he can do the awning repair/replace at half or less what it would cost us----and if it needs replaced, he'll have an easier time selling it.....doesn't sound like doom & gloom to me.....

DON"T play it straight, and he may not be there for ya' the next time you need something done on the new one....right? A little bit of Golden Rule goes a long way....

I'd ask the dealer before I involved insurance. A similar thing happened to me--when I told the salesman he said don't worry about it--they could fix it for practically nothing. He didn't change the deal or anything.

I had a similar experience with a car trade one time. Just go to the dealer, tell him what happened and I'm sure you'll come out of it for close to the same money and not have the claim record on your insurance.

Thank you for the replies. I feel somewhat better after reading them. As for not telling the dealer. That's not an option, at least not with me. I couldn't do that. I have no problem making the claim on insurance ( That's why I have insurance ). I just don't want a hassle from the dealer. I'll call them in an hour or so when they open and see what they say.
Thank you guys ( and gals ) so much.

No need to worry. Call you insurance company and the dealer and turn over the insurance check to the dealer.

In the long run this suggest does nothing but cost all of us more $$$s.

Awnings, windshields and such claims are considered an "act of God" and never used to change your insurance rates.

This was an act of stupidity. I guess I didn't have the awning all of the way in or locked in place. It was hanging out a few inches and that's all it took to catch on an over hang that I didn't pay attention to.

YES, I worked so hard find this exact trailer layout. Then to work the deal w/ the dealer. Then to juggle the cash and now this!
Also, I'm leaving for a vacation this weekend.
I've been trying to get in touch with someone at the dealership for the past 10min ( The opened at 9am ) but no answer.
I'll update this thread when I find out anything.

I have a similar personality and this would weigh on me too.
It should not be a deal breaker, remember - the dealer wants to do the deal too and should work with you. There are not as many RV buyers around as before so your deal should be considered valuable.

As noted, dealers take trades needing repair all the time and should be able to work with you.
