FWIW: As part-owner of two CGs, we get it from all sides....
We get complaints about older, run down rigs.
We get hit by our insurance carrier for TCs on jacks.
We get a few TC folks who feel discriminated against.
We get complaints 'cause we don't have enough drive-through sites.
We get complaints that some sites are too close to the johns or play grounds.
We get complaints 'cause we don't allow your sound system to be heard in the next site.
We get complaints from the big rigs that they don't like metered AC.
Etc., etc., etc. ..............
We had to listen to the insurance carrier---TCs off the truck have to be in our fenced area, and NO KIDS in that area. And, the fenced area is the furtherest from the john/showers/store and day-use areas. A simple liability issue we have to deal with.
All we can do is say "sorry." We'd all love to see everything the way we like it, however, that just doesn't happen in real life. Everyone pays the same rate for the same services---occasionally, the line has to be drawn, but no one has ever been excluded for anything but safety reasons or offensive behavior.

We live in modular home- no steel or wheels under the floor or tires on the roof. When we built no local contractor could even come close to the price/sqft.
Sorry a liitle off topic- but we live in one of those neighborhoods that has restrictions- but we have stick built conventional home and not sitting on steel frame-

I agree. On our trip this summer, we saw WAY more class As than other kinds of RVs on the road. Many of them were of the "upscale" variety.
makes since to me about not unloading a TC for safty reasons when it comes to kids playing around you just never know what they may mess with or crawl under, one time or another the insurance companys must have paid out for some mishaps of a TC falling over or kids getting hurt.a lot of rules comes from insurance companys that had to pay out for one reason or another for damage or someone getting hurt they have rules that apply at work places because of the same reasons.dont know of any campgrounds around here that turn people away .

Brad---to clarify.....we've had two guests' TC jacks fail completely in the 26 years I've been part-owner....the first fell on, and severely crippled, the 10 year-old---son of another TC guest, who was playing tag around someone else's TC....that litigation went on for over 8 years, and cost our carrier over $750K---and cost us a bundle in legal costs we never recovered.....we made a conscious decision to upgrade the TC sites long before it was ever settled......12' X 16' level concrete pads. Soon after that was settled, an unattended TC jack failed and a LPG tank fire resulted, taking with it the TC-owner's full 5-gallon gas can---we had two related claims for the fire damage to adjacent rigs, and a third for our loss to utilities and a storage building. We could have just excluded TCs entirely, or just TCs on jacks, to keep our rates down....but chose to fence that area and exclude kids playing----The TC kids can be there accompanied by THEIR parents, but that's it.
AND, all fuel containers must be kept inside vehicles---no free-standing LPG or gas cans anywhere, on ANY site.
I'm not singling out TC folks at all---there have been far more non-TC claims over the years---none involving our negligence, but they all add up to expensive premiums and legal costs, none the less.
It's also interesting that we often get complaints from TT, PUP & even A, B, and C guests, that CAN'T reserve the concrete-pad, "off-the-truck" TC, fenced-in areas, which are located somewhat "off the beaten path," even though they run $5/day more than others! (Our cost for these three dedicated off-truck TC areas in two separate CGs is over $210K to date, and, they're 99.9% occupied all season.)
We can please most of our guests most of the time---but it's awfully difficult to please all of the people all of the time! But, based on guest comments over the years, I'm quite sure most feel we've been more than fair and responsible.

It is like that in any industry - you have rules that will govern your actions that you cannot change. Insurance companies are only protecting their shareholders (they do not care about who or what is effected), it is all business. Same in many other areas such as housing developments, many developments have regulations about shingles and siding so they meet with the fire code and the insurance regulations. They do not care about what you want, they have to go with the rules set out.
If you want to build a cabin in many areas you have to follow very strict rules - no trees within such a distance from your house, no storage of fuel containers outside, Special roofing material and siding, etc., etc.
Like others have said, if they have a problem with you (or your unit) then stay away. We will not change their minds if all they are doing is following the rules they have been given.

P.S. Don't forget about the tent trailers that are not allowed in some parks because of the bears, same issues.
We've never been turned away when we had a TC nor have we ever been turned away because of the age of our unit but one RV park in Mesa,AZ turned us away because our 5th wheel was "too small."

Lake Pleasant Marina/RV Park, northwest of Phoenix doesn't allow Truck Campers at all. Mine is an 2006 Alpenlite. We were refused reservations to thier facility which is 20 miles from our home. Needless to say I have boycotted them.
