Fort Summit KOA is on I-4 fairly close to Disney. They have shuttle vans that go to Disney in the am and return at 5:00 and again at 10:00 if you want to avoid driving and the parking fee. One warning...they don't like strollers and tried to prevent us from taking one because it would take up room for a passenger (even though there was room).

Good luck, we had a blast and plan on returning and staying at FW the next time if possible.

We have stayed at the Encore Lake Magic RV Resort. That seemed like a nice place. We were only there for a long weekend, but typically you spend more time at Disney then you do at the campground.

I don't know when you are going but I suggest calling every morning (FL) time. They often have cancellations and you may luck out and get a site. Ft. Wilderness can't be beat so keep trying.

I agree with pmooney1, just saw on another board where someone cancelled their Oct 3 to Oct 30 ressies. I think we may have to cut one day out of our trip in Oct. Disney opens at 7:00AM Eastern for reservations and I think that is when they re-enter all the cancelled openings. Even if you can't get the entire trip reserved on one call, take what you can get and call back to try and fill in the holes. I have had success doing that. We have called Disney on the road (called FW directly) and got in a day early so you shouldn't give up hope.

At the very least, you could try Wekiva Springs State Park -- it is about one hour from Disney.

we stayed at the Kissimmee/Orlando KOA and loved it during spring break. 5 Miles from the entrance to WDW, we would stay again in a heartbeat.

I agree. I had to make reservation last year for a business/personal trip in January and started making them in December. Of course, no openings. I took the days I could get which was only two or three initially and then kept checking their site. As days opened up on each side of the dates I had I just added them. Now I would think this would open me up to moving around site to site, but by then end I had the days I wanted and stayed at the same site the whole time. Another suggestion - if you think you are going to want to stay longer it is better to reserve the time upfront and cancel days then it is to try to add them on later. Good Luck - I have been to Ft. Wilderness three times in the last two years and it is worth it.
