Last year on our first trip with the coach we stopped at a car wash & gas station. We were just leaving & the Mrs saw a sani dump so I stopped,Good thing!! I walked around the back of the coach & saw trnny fluid every where.I looked under & it was dripping off everything.I was horrified,We limped it next door to a truck stop.and my buddy crawled under & watched as I fired it up.A line attached to the side of the tranny had wore thru on the chassis frame. It was Sunday so we waited until Monday AM & called A service truck. It turned out that it was a line that goes drive the rad fans & was not routed & tied up very good.If we would have continued our trip the pto pump would have blown for sure.So everyone crawl under your coach & check all your lines to make sure they are secure & not rubbing on something.

Had the same thing happen to me, the 1 inch hydraulic hose from the hyd. pump to the fan hyd. motor rubbed thru because it was laying against the frame. I was driving down an Interstate Hwy, and noticed that something was splashing against my rear camera. When I stopped, everything including the toad, on the back of the motorhome was covered in oil. I pulled off at the next exit, was able to take the hose off, drove the toad down the road a few miles and found a John Deere dealer that was able to make me a new hose. Took 7 1/2 gallons of Dexron III to fill the resouvoir back up. I believe it only holds ten gallons. The good news is these hoses and ends are very common and just about any place that can make hyd. lines can make one.

Good catch beaverthunder. I agree frequent walkaround inspections for leaks and underneath inspections are critical in these rigs. A few weeks ago after pulling out of a campground while fueling I noticed some oily spots on wet pavement but didn't think much of it. I drove about 50 feet away to hook the toad up and the oily spots followed me. On went the coveralls and I found the oil filter was loose!! I hate to think what would have happened if I hadn't caught it.

Bad as that was, you were very lucky that you weren't out on the road.

you can crawl all you want under your motorhome,
i'm not going to, ever!

thanks for a good suggestion, i will have somebody else check all the hoses especially the hoses that could rub a hole in themselves, thanks for sharing

I think that is why a walk around at every stop is very important. I do a walk around and play peekaboo under the Coach at every food or fuel stop and rest area.

Years ago I found that the boat I was towing had bounced up on the coupler enough to shear the pin keeping the coupler closed... I would have hated to lose the boat and other imaginable havoc over a $.15 pin...

Good Catch... and a lucky one at that!!! Thanks for posting!!!
