We are planning a Sept to Oct trip to the Florida Panhandle. Can I get feedback on the pros and cons of Grayton or Topsail RV parks. They both appear to be in the same area, so we would stay at one or the other.
Thanks

Topsail is tops with full hook up.....Grayton is more primative and great for tents, and small rigs IMO.

Grayton in no way compares to Topsail. Topsail is in a totally different league. Yes, Grayton is just down the road, but Topsail just outranks Grayton on every angle. At Topsail, you have beautiful manicured sites, Grayton has sand and dust. The only thing similar between the two might be the beach. I would choose Topsail, hands down.

Topsail is one of the best rated Campgrounds in the country.

They're both state parks - that's about the only thing they have in common. They represent the difference between a campground and an RV resort.
Grayton- campground with sand sites, elec and water only. Beautiful 1 mile long beach. $19 a night.
Topsail- RV resort with manicured grass and cement sites with patios and full hookups w/cable TV, swimming pool, tennis, shuffleboard, clubhouse, laundry facilities. Beautiful 3 mile long beach. $38 a night.
Most people don't know that Grayton is much larger than Topsail because so much more of it is primitive, undeveloped land.

Depends on what you like, I suppose. We much prefer more natural campgrounds so we liked Grayton. If you want more of the "resort" feel you would like Topsail.

We enjoyed our stay at Grayton two years ago. We're like JGRVING - more natural is more good! There are some pix at:

Skip both, do yourself a favor and go to St Andrews. Much better CG than Grayton and a lot more fun than Topsail Hill

Skip both, and St. Andrews, and go to Henderson Beach SP. Actually, I like St. Andrews the best of the 3, but the DW prefers the glitz of Destin combined with the greatness of Henderson Beach SP. Panama City is kind of dull compared to Destin, but hey, when I camp I like dull.

We stayed at Grayton last summer and Henderson this summer.

Grayton: more rustic, smaller sites/park, nice little lake on site if you do kayaking/fishing, lots of vegetation between sites, gravel/dirt sites, unpaved roads, quieter, beautiful not too busy beach, can walk/ride bikes almost to beach, grocery store w/in 10 minutes, not much else close. One bathhouse centrally located.

Henderson: larger, busier, gravel pads, paved roads, bigger sites/parks, vegetation between sites, more people, 1/4 mile walk to beach (no riding bikes), beautiful beach but busier, 2 mile drive to Destin/Walmart/restaurants/anything else. 4 loops, 2 centrally-located bathhouses.

We have a Pop up so we don't need full hook-ups.
