Interested in this. I looked on the Dish site, but didn't see how this works. Do you pay when you connect? Ask for days at a time and pay per day? Only activate for a month at a time?

I don't know about Dish, but with DirecTV, you can take a receiver out of your house, use while you're traveling, then put it back when you get home! We actually just got our 3rd receiver, because my husband was tired of hooking & unhooking the receiver every time we went somewhere. Now, we're just leaving it in the rv. You can de-activate them if you're not using them, like in the winter! We may just put it in our bedroom during the winter.

Are you sure it's a 310 and not a 311?

You buy the receiver that is programmed with the Dish Now card. You usually get a dish with the deal! You can either buy the green dot cards or go to RAdio Shack and buy a $40.00 DISH NOW card.
THe number of days of programming is determined by the programming you pick. Ex: Family Pack 60 days; top 100 gets you around 36 days; top 250 26 days etc. When the card expires or even before you just contact the automated system and renew for the number of days or programming you want.
You own the redeiver and dish and when your done for the season just shut it off, no contrct no month;y bills.

Here is the best deal I have found: http://www.thesatelliteshop.net/dish-network-c-702.html

My question is has anyone had problems with the 310 receiver and KVH R4 dish? Some receivers won't work properly with the KVH . Thanks Mike

Are you sure it's a 310 and not a 311? I haven't heard of the 310. I also have the KVH R4 and use the Dish 311 Receiver. The 311 is the one that KVH recommends. I have used the 4900, 301 and the 311 receivers with the KVH R4 and they all worked even though some KVH support techs. will tell you their products only work properly with the 311 receiver if using Dish. The biggest problem I have run into with the receivers is taking them from the house system and getting them switched to the R4 system. This was especially true for me now that we have the three LMB HD Super Dish system in the house as my R4 has a tough time switching the receiver over to recognize the R4. However, you learn shortcuts as you go.

The main difference I can tell with the receivers is the 311 will automatically switch satelites faster and with less problems when changing channels plus the 311's technology advantages by being a newer model.

My opinion, they'll all work. They have for me.

Save yourself some time by not asking at Radio Shack about this option. They did make a call to a Dish "Expert" for me. I learned that you have to purchase the equipment which just about cancels out any savings unless you are going to use it only a few months a year. I was also disappointed that it required a full month at a time as I was hoping for a weekly rate.
