I think the original poster (I spell it out for him because I don't think he would understand OP) is just trying to push buttons here. Definitely troll-ing.
And boy, did we all rise to the bait!
Four questions:
How many rifles does he have to make to have a living wage... or is it just his hobby?
Who will make them when he can't or dies?
When one of the two outfitter assemblers is off sick or quits who services the product warrenty ot builds more? It sounds like a hobby business to me.

Sleepy, you referring to the rifle guy or Outfitter with regard to a hobby business?

I am always amused at what appeals to different folks. To me, a big operation means less quality control and limited customer attention...kinda like government agencies.
Cookie cutter mentallity is frankly what most people respond to. I like to be a part of the process and appreciate the companies that believe that although they may disagree with a customer's request they will do it anyway. It is no secret that I have had some issues with my Apex 8...all have been resolved by the way. Some by me, but most by Outfitter MFG. I just returned from a very nice trip using my camper. I did have one problem...my crank broke and Outfitter is sending a new crank at no charge. My camper is 3 years old.
TrailS2004 Your comment about upping production basically makes them more credible. Wow, that is the greedy American way. I am in the same boat with Outfitter. Always wondering if I should increase the size of my operation. I know that increasing the size of my operation WILL make our very close customer relationships suffer. It will also increase the strain the people who operate the company...ME. I am comfortable with trying to increase cash flow other ways than at my customers expense. I have MUCH more respect for the guy who is directly involved with his company than a big operation without a face.

This is the best (and only) thing we can all get out of this thread - a neat picture of a troll spray can!

I have been pondering a move from Class C to T/C for some time and have often read this forum. I have been impressed with the Outfitter line based on what owners have reported. After all, owner satisfaction is a key indicator of quality. Recently there was a thread on another boutique manufacturer that had taken a deposit and not produced a product as a result of economic hard times. This other company also had loyal customers that spoke highly of the product. Based on the economic slow down in the RV industry and how easy it is to go under, I feel buying from a boutique manufacturer is to risky at this time. I guess I will have to continue on in my search for a truck camper.

retiredbutworking,
You might rethink your purchase strategy. Look at used Outfitters, they are sought after and for sale only a very short time before being bought. This greatly strengthens the market for new ones. Also, Outfitter is still in business when other camper companies are slowing down, cutting back on employees or entirely stopped production. Buying from a company that understands overhead costs and builds campers that are essentially already sold is less risky than one that makes many and tries to then sell them. Outfitter, like Alaskan and a few others, does not have an elaborate dealer network and operates in a market that will always be there since there will always be people wanting pop-up slide in campers. Just my thoughts and I don't have an Outfitter nor am I in any way affiliated with the company. Don't let the very negative tone of this thread "Buyer Beware!!!" sway your purchase decision.

I have a question for the folks that have bought an Outfitter. How much do they require down to start building one for you? If you have to put up a large amount of up front money aren't you worried about them not being there in time to start/finish your camper especially in todays enviorment?

Usually the posting of that picture goes *POOF* really fast. Only occasionally is the trolling so blatantly obvious that the moderators let it stand....
Note that both moderators and Admin have been through without removing it...
