I'm looking for site recommendations or reviews for the back forested loop at Huntington Beach State Park in SC. I'll be camping in a pop-up. Some sites like 114 look pretty private - has anyone camped in these sites?

Thanks

Yes, we have stayed there in the motorhome. They are all relatively private, basically carved out of the woods there. Not a whole lot to say about them since they are all pretty much the same. There is a bathhouse located on that back loop too. They also paved all the roads this spring making it a lot nicer with less dust.

All of the sites in the back are very private and shaded. We usually avoid that area becasue since it is so wooded there is little breeze to keep the mosquitos away. Also if one of those afternoon showers roll around it takes forever to dry things out back there. JMHO. There are many sites on the other loops that provide adequate shade but also alow for some sun and the breeze. Hope this helps.

We spent one weekend in the backstretch of Huntington. It was super private, but the bugs were terrible. Smoke from the fire or bug spray didn't help much. We would go back to those sites if we had to, but would prefer the front sites due to the bug situation.

Pull up the map of the C/G and try and get the sites @ the end of the back loop before you come back into the first loop.Should be about 4-5 sites below the bath house. You will get more of a breeze from these sites than the others on the back loop.
