Lots to do in and around Phoenix. You could do day trips to the Grand Canyon, Sedona and the Apache Trail. Scottsdale is loaded with great restaurants, both six star and hole in the wall. Cowboy Ciao was really good.

A "must" see and eat is the Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse located in Scottsdale, AZ just a few mile north of Phoenix.

Don't know when in Sept you plan on coming to visit, but just be aware that it is still pretty HOT here that time of the year.

Try Oreganos in Tempe by the University. Great pizza and ceasar salad to die for. Fun atmosphere.

Not in Phoenix. But you have to give Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa a try.

Pinnacle Petes is a fun place to eat at and the Phoenix zoo is one of the best zoos I've seen.

We lived in Phoenix for a year, BK (before kids)

Our two favorite eating establishments were:

Sahuaro Cafe
9158 W, Pierce
Tolleson, AZ 85353
623-936-3413, I would call first. This was in a neighborhood setting. Very authentic and very good. 50+ years in business and basically in the front of their house. A long drive west but worth it.

6003 N 16th St
Phoenix, AZ 85016
(602) 248-7827
TEXAZ Grille This place is divey, but GOOD. The outright best chicken-fried steak I have had (sorry Mom). We go here every time we are in Phoenix. Plus they have alot of cool stuff on the walls and ceilings and COLD beer.

We always take a trip up to Sedona. Go up the interstate and then go back down to Phoeniz via Cottonwood, Jerome (very cool town during the day, beautiful scenery and cool bars), Prescott, and Wickenburg.

Have fun!!
