Well after hearing 3 different numbers from three different salesmen and reading the owners manual which is kinda misleading, what is the tow capacity of my new TV? It's a 08 Dodge 2500 Cummins 6-Spd, Auto, 3:73 gears, with the exaust brake. I know the GVWR of my TT is about 9500lbs so I know I'm okay, just curious what the trucks tow rating is. Thanks.

According to the 2007 brochure the GCWR of your truck is I believe 20,000 pounds. So in reality IF your truck scales at 8000 pounds in ready to camp configuration and IF YOU decide to stay within the manufacturers ratings, then your truck should have no problems pulling 12,000 pounds of TT.

What type of cab do you have? I think the 2500 are around 13-14K for tow rating. Someone on this forum will know what the answer is or check the Dodge website. If your towing 9500 you will have no problems with your new truck.

There you go.
Weigh your truck ready to camp, subtract that from the GCWR,and you have your tow rating.

The manual has to be studied. But here's my thoughts. Your 2500 is the same as a 3500 SRW without the extra rear spring.
So look at the the brochure in the tow ratings section for a srw 3500.
The numbers above are for a 3500, I beleive. Payload is the only thing not listed and if I remember right that's around 2800 lbs.

According to the sticker on my 07 2500 QC, the Max Carrying Capacity is 2580#
That's supposed to include Passengers, and Cargo (read hitch& pin weight for 5th)
The 12K(4x4)-13K(4x2) Tow capacity has been the same for abt 4-5 yrs
