i think you should wait and put off buying a coach until you are ready and need it. manufacturers seem to be offering better and better values year after year... years ago full paint wasn't always available now full body is available on almost all... full wall sides are in their infancy... who knows in a year or two full wall sides may be avaiable on every new motorhome... electronics keep getting cheaper and better year after year.... in a couple of years quad screen color LCD's will be in every dash... in motion satelite keeps getting cheaper, high def TV will be in all new coaches soon... who knows, maybe sani-con will be also installed in all new M/Hs. i really like sani-con..
auto start and stop generators are a luxury now, but maybe not in a year or two?
sometime in the future look for full ground effect aero dynamic improvements... who knows maybe mohos will get aero dynamic nose cones and boat tail ends...

Not every one will be "fire selling" their unit.
I agree 100%. lower level coaches get super deep discounts all the time ( just read of the everyday 30% and more discounts that people have gotten long before the gas crunch)
Higher level coaches like anything thats top tier keeps chugging right on along.

I think it'll be a while before the number of people wanting to buy a motorhome catches up with the number of people needing to sell. As more and more used vehicles sit on dealers' lots and at owners' homes, their value will fall and fall some more. I'm sure that some sellers are so desperate that they'll gladly take much less than they expected to get a year ago. So there should be some very good deals now on used RV's and better deals six months from now. New vehicles current year I don't expect many great bargains, just a little fall, but looks like year old and especially two year old new units are falling significantly in price.
I wonder if the NADA values will be adjusted downward to reflect the market accurately, or if they will just hold with the same percentage decrease as always. Without a change, those values will become misleading.

Every time they up grade the price jumps.....My wife and I were looking at coaches at the FMCA convention and we were looking in the three hundred and fifty thousand range because we want something reasonably priced.....When I caught myself I had to laugh out loud.....there is nothing reasonable about that price range. I know you can spend a lot more but the prices on these things are just plain nuts.

I don't know if this is the bottoming out of prices but it is a good idea to try out your new home and get the kinks out before you full time in it. We did and it gave us time to get everything squared away before we hit the road. Good luck and you have a good attitude about the gas prices.

This is true............only those who overspent themselves are looking at doing "fire sales" in their front yard.
So far, the dealers of pickups and RV's that I've talked to haven't come down in price. They are holding on to what they have - like a lot of us that have quality older units that are paid for.

the indentical one and a half bath floor plan is available from 3 maybe four monaco 2008 lines... the camelot, the sceptor, the safari cheetah, and maybe beaver has an entry level tag axle (not sure?)
these all carried a MSRP value of about 330K to 350K.... monaco wanted to move some coaches and made my dealer a deal on a cheap safari 2009 tag axle.... i bought mine fully loaded for only 211K...i was upside down on trade-in by 10K. i should have bought the coach for 201K.... from 2008 to 2009 entry level bath and a half tag axle coaches dropped about 80K in MSRP value...

i had done my home work big time, when i got a chance to save 70K to 80K on a new motor home... i loaded up wifey and we went to alvaredo, texas to look.... www.mhsrv.com
the third or 4th entry level tags is from beaver called the Contessa. has the same floor plan...

If you decide to buy NEW you should research the financial condition of the manufacturer. Is the manufacturer going to make it through these difficult times or will he go belly up and you could have a problem getting warranty repairs etc.
