Thought the folks running Honda EU2000's and the polar cub A/C would find this interesting. Central Maine Diesel in ME has a kit that allows your EU2000 to run off either propane or gas. Videos on their site showing it. You send in your Honda regular carb and get back a converted one. Interesting idea for Boondocking.

Will the 2000 run a Polar Cub on propane? There is a substantial engine power loss with propane instead of gasoline.

Wow, that's really cool! Nice to have the option to use the fuel of your choice. Definitely on my upgrade list.

It's 325.00 to have it converted . I guess another advantage is , you can store the generator for longer periods without using it. Am i correct that the propane conversion is less likely to gunk up ?

You can get Yamaha factory approved conversions from US Carburetion

The advantage would be that since it's factory approved, they generator still caries the factory warranty. They also have tri-fuel available that will run on gasoline, propane and natural gas.

The above review says a tri fuel kit is $179. I don't know if I understand his post right but it sounds like you send in your carb and get back a modified one in return. They keep your carb and modify it... selling it to the next customer? You have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the central marine page to click on it.

It sounds more to me that you buy the kit and then you send back your old carb. "Return Core Required". In all of my past experience that means you have to return the core. Most times they charge you more for the kit and when you return the core then they refund the core charge.

Some Airstreamers have done this conversion themselves...just buy the kit and mod your own carb.
Voids the warranty though...
Slight power loss (don't know the numbers off hand) but as shown it does power the Cub.

Anyone ever hear of a diesel conversion? That would be cool...

www.propane-generators.com

2 options

the A kit does not allow you to run gas anymore
the C kit allows gas and propane.

C kit you need to send them the carberator (sp?)
