What a STUPID place to have a female grease zirk, on the cardan joint. After an hour with 3 different styles of needles, and a huge mess of grease and none in the dang joint I'm saying to heck with it. When the joint fails I'll replace it, at this point its worth it to me. ARGGGG.

Any one else feel my pain?

Try taking an old end from a GG, and grind it down where it will sneak in between the joint. Worked for me with some tight zerks.

Either that, or pull the 4 bolts, drop the shaft so you can bend the joint real good to open it for clearance.

Got the dang thing. Finally got the right bend in NAPA part #715-1213, 4" u-joint gg adapter. God help me if I ever lose my "custom" tool.

Oops, I have not been greasing the joint. I have only been greasing the tie rod ends. Guess I will have to get to it. Glad you posted this. I have 20K on my truck and pretty sure the dealer has not done this ever as well.

I'd be willing to bet your dealer doesn't even know its there.

Or if they do know its there, they'll say it actually doesn't exist.

One trick I use is to jack up one front wheel so I can rotate the shaft freely to just where I want it. Those cardans are a pain in the rear for sure.

Let's see, I think the first time I encountered one of those (unspeakable, unprintable) things was on a Chevy 4X4, many years ago. It ultimately failed, and a friend who had a home machine shop made a new shaft for me WITHOUT that joint. Other than a slight vibration above 70 MPH, no problem.
I feel your pain. The engineers really created a winner, there!

Driveshafts come out so easy anyways.. But I haven't greased mine in 50k, I doubt my dealer has either. Life goes on.
