I did a search on this but didn't really find an answer. I saw where some folks have gotten an ez pass for the mh when towing and one for the mh when not towing. I would like to get it thru New York as it doesn't cost you for the unit itself. Can anyone explain how and who to contact to get this combination? Also are they good all the way from Maine to Florida? Thank You

That's what I did when I originally signed up the four wheelers. But when it got time to get a tag for the MH that was on the discount plan (pays regular not commercial rates) I couldn't see how to do it. I called them, sent faxes like they suggested, and nothing ever came of it. Finally I stopped in at one of the customer service centers and in a few minutes I had my tag.

In my case, they only gave me one - for use while not towing. If I'm towing, I need to use a manned lane when entering, and they manully adjust the number of axles - and it still gets put on the tag at the discounted rate.

Does it matter which state you get it from? i.e. OP mentioned NY gives the tag free.......
do all states let you just drop in and buy it like ShapeShifter did?

Thanks

Each state is a little different in the details. I got it from NY since I live in NY. A friend who lives in CT (no native E-ZPass there) chose to get hers from NY. If you're in a state that has no E-ZPass you can apparently choose whatever state you wish. But If you live in a state that does have E-ZPass, I don't know if you have to get it from your home state or not.

When I stopped in a the customer service center (in NY) they didn't ask me what state I was from. But then again, I already had an account, so I guess that all they had to do was look at it. So I guess I'm not much help, am I?

You can get an EZ Pass from any state that has EZ Pass but BEWARE NJ...yes our infamous hostile states zaps your account $1 a month for a service fee whether you use it or not that month. I have had it for years and when this charge started...it would cost me more than $12 in gas to go to Pa or NY to change the home state...so I let it be because if something changes in their infamous useless computer, you could get zapped for violations you didn't do (that's a whole other topic)...If you are able to get an EZ Pass from another state, DO IT.

Last time I came back from Buffalo area EZpass deal was for sale at first rest stop. Not sure of the details since I already had one.
Towing a car behind a class A, I have two transponders one when not towing, another when pulling toad.
Got mine at the EZ pass office in Albany (Guilderland)

The EZ Pass is good down to about MD I think. FL has a different pass. Haven't needed one in middle states that I can think of.

So, what other posters have mentioned is that NY doesn't have a maintenance fee? Mine is from NJ and we have been paying the @$1 a month. We don't use it now, but figured it wasb't worth sending back for the convenience of using it when we do go back that way. Now I may change my mind.
