Anybody store their Yamaha ef2400is generator in a rubbermaid-type storage container and keep in the camper? I've spent way too much time searching for a container that can handle the ef2400is. A Rubbermaid 24-gallon Actionpacker is close but don't think it is tall enough.
A container model number would be greatly appreciated.
I carry a yamaha 2800i behind drivers seat in my quad cab , no container and no smell. I do however use a ratchet strap to secure it in case of a emergency stop, Really wouldn't want it flying around as might just give a guy a headache if it was to make contact.
I've also got a crew cab but my daughters (4 and 1-1/2) sit back there. I was hoping that storing the generator in some type of container would keep it looking nice and possibly reduce fumes. I know with the gas cap on tight and the gas valve off, there's not supposed to be any fumes.
I have a Let's Go Aero GearDeck 17 cargo carrier but haven't been using it since my wife and I prefer to take our bikes (hitch-mounted bike rack) and leave the generator at home.
I also have a front receiver but don't really want to carry the generator up front.
I decided to sell the Yamaha ef2400is and the Let's Go Aero cargo carrier and get a Honda EU2000i. Well the Honda arrived today and runs my 11,000 BTU a/c even with the ECO throttle on. It pulls 10.5 amps so there is a little to spare. I'm right at sea level so I think I can probably run it at a max altitude of around 5,000 feet (with 3% power loss per 1.000 feet). This should be good enough for most of my camping needs.
On an airstream forum someone mentioned that they kept their EU2000i in a Rubbermaid 24-gallon Action Packer. I picked up one of these and it fits perfectly in the camper right below the refrigerator. So for now the problem is solved and I even made a little cash from the sales. By the way I got the EU2000i from Wise Sales for $869.
