I have a hard time getting the hitch coupler lock to go down over the ball if I'm not fairly level when I hook-up, a friend said that there may be something wrong with the ball, but it seems ok to me. I measured the diameter against another ball of the same size, and it was ok, the only differance between the two ball was that one (mine) has a larger flat spot on the top of it. At first I thought it was just new and tight, but it doesnt aeem to be getting any better....any suggestions out there?

Sounds to me like your coupler is not opening all the way. Check to make sure it is wide open. Perhaps some luberication would help. I know on mine, I have to make sure the lever is pulled all the way back. Good Luck..

Point on ensuring the lock is fully retracted is good. If that catches when the trailer is lowered it will wedge and the ball will not get into the coupler. On mine the ball will couple up and the lock will not drop down. This happens when the ball is pressed against the back of the coupler. I will let he TV pull forward just a tad to shift the pressure against the front of the coupler, and it will engage.

safe travels,

Sometimes it gets tough to couple when the ball is at an angle. Make sure that the ball is not tilted in any direction, this impedes the coupling considerably.

When the WDH is tilted sometimes the ball will be tilted and it causes a little issue with the coupler locking onto the ball. I have found that when it does I have had to go ahead and finish my hook up and add tension to the WDH bars to pull the ball closer to level. When its level and locks on you can go ahead and raise the TV with the jack and take up the rest of the linkage you might need...

I had the same problem. I agree with jplunkett. After you lower the TT coupler onto the ball, put your TV in gear pulling the ball forward in the coupler, relieving any pressure on the lock letting it close with ease.
