Put it in or on the toad. If you don't have a toad then get a tire carrier rack made to go in the hitch receiver. I'd be real surprised if you don't have a hitch.

Quote: Mine is mounted between the frame rails in the very back.
I had a local shop mount a bracket between the I beams at the back. It is only a unmounted tire... I have it wrapped up in a fake leather cover to protect it. The bracket drops with a large bolt. Works well. I hope I never need it.

Thanks for all of the replies. OK, I guess I really knew that the ladder was a bad idea, but it would have been SO EASY! '02 Winn 32' underbelly WILL NOT accomidate my 19.5" spare (32" tall), either width or length wise. I was able to find a receiver mount spare carrier locally, wish the price was as good as etrailer.com, but NOT. Now all I have to do is find a wheel, or engineer a method to hang it unmounted on the carrier.

A welder with a fair size scrap pile should be able to come up with something that will work.

I see lots of MH's running down the road with different things hung from the ladders. I would think that if the ladder was made to hang things from the manufacture would explain this in the manual.
Hanging something on the ladder while driving down the road I would think would not be good for the ladder, and sooner or later you are going to find damage to the ladder. I would also think it would be unsafe. What if the bouncing caused the item to fall off and hit the vehicle behind you.
I like the hitch idea or some kind of a carring rack on the back.

We carry two folding chairs on our ladder. These are the heavy duty chairs that CW sells. We have a hook made for the ladder that we got at CW and I use double bungie cords on the bottem to secure the chairs to the ladder after placing them on the hook. The charis never move while we are traveling so I don't think the cars behind us are in any danger.
That being said, although these chairs are fairly heavy, I think a spare tire would be heavier and less stable on the ladder. Luckily, our coach has a mounted spare hanging between the frame rails in the back. I noticed that the op found a mount that he could use if the tire is mounted on a wheel. Someone suggested that an iron working shop could fabricate something to carry the unmounted spare. I would submit that buying a wheel and having the tire mounted and balanced would make more sense and probably only cost a few dollars more.
The only blow out that I ever had damaged the wheel of the blown tire so an unmounted spare would have been worthless to us. Hope this is all for naught and the op never needs his spare.

My 03 adventurer has the spare under the rear..think yours should have a place to mount it...it winds down with the handle that came with the unit.
I personally believe the tire and rim is too heavy for the ladder to support..sure would hate to pull the ladder loose from the body..would be a bear to repair.

I like the hitch idea or some kind of a carring rack on the back. There have been lots of pictures here to confirm this. Bikes lost, chairs lost, grills lost. Tire and rim that gets away can do a awful lot of damage, especially when it hits a vehicle traveling toward it. I personally like putting it between frame rails or on a hitch receiver.
