I think this explains why no one has responded to this. I have no clue and my guess is that the 70+ other viewers don't either.

MDS only works under very light load. While towing, you'll be running on all eight except for the downhills. MDS on the Dodge 5.7L Hemi has proven to be very reliable. I don't have it on my 2500HD but go to Dodgetalk.com and read all about it.

My brother in-law just bought an 08 1500 hemi and loves it, He is towing a trailer that weighs in around 7k lbs. The mds only works when you are unloaded and cruising at certain speeds.

I have a 2007 Ram 1500 with Hemi and MDS. I get 8-9 mpg towing approximately 6,000#. Not towing I can get up to 20-21 mpg with my cruse set at 55mph. On the 2007 the mds shuts off at speeds above 65mph, I really wished it went to 70mph. I understand that the new 2009 Ram the mds works up to 75mph. At approximately 63-64 mph on cruise I average 18.5-19 mpg.

Tow 6500 with it no problems just learn how to use the tow/haul button to your advantage
