I am getting the strong smell of gas fumes from my 2003 Chevolet Tahoe 4X4. I don't see any place that it is leaking gas and the smell is not continual. Any help would be appreciated.
Most vehicles have a carbon cannister that absorbs the fuel vapors from the tank. Usually happens If the tank is filled right up and you park it in hot weather the cannister will get some fuel in it. The engine sucks the fumes out the cannister when the engine is running and the fuel smell will go away. When it clicks off when filling it don't try to fill it right up to the top the fill tube.
This happened yesterday with 1/2 tank. Of course, it is really hot in Vegas and we had been out.
