Hi All,
Need some quick help on selecting a KOA campround in the Mt. Rushmore area. The wife and I are travelling alone for this trip, no kids or dogs (Adult travel). We will be arriving about Sept. 12th, so we know the pools will most likely be closed. We are looking for the nices RV sites, full hook-ups, cable TV, internet service, and convienence to local attractions, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, the Caves, etc. We have narrowed down our search to Rapid City KOA or Hill City KOA.
We need a recommendation and comparision for each. If you can help provide the pro's & con's we would appricate it.
Thanks in advance,
Hap & Patti

well, Hill City gets my vote because it's a lot closer to Mt. Rushmore and not in a big, busy city.

Hill City for sure, for the reason TexasShadow cited. Also check into the Rafter J Bar Ranch CG in Hill City. We loved it there! (Island or Ranch Camp sections the best.)

We drove by the Hill City KOA on our way to Mt. Rushmore. It looked nice, but I wondered why they put the horse stable near the pool. It looked like a lot of fun stuff/activities were packed into it.
We stayed at the Rafter J and loved every minute of our stay. I would go back again to the Rafter J. It was clean, beautiful and friendly.

We just returned from Hill City KOA about 2 weeks ago. We were there for about 9 days and loved it. Very nice sites. The stables are at the entrance and there is a pool close to it. There is another pool back in the campground. No Internet but does have cable.
We loved it and would love to go back again.
Hope you have a great trip!

Rafter J ! Best park we've stayed at. Try to get in the 'island'. Parked our fifth wheel under the pines, view of the tallest peak in the Black Hills.
