What do you use for a night light when boondocking?
We like to have a little light to find our way to the bathroom, etc. in the middle of the night. Our camper doesn't have any wall outlets that work from the battery, so we can't use the little night light that we plug in when hooked up to AC.
In the past we've used a candle, but this past week the candle we were using started smoking so badly it filled the air with soot, so bad that the smoke alarm went off just as my wife was headed to blow out the candle in the morning.
I had thought earlier in the night it was getting smokey in the camper and had turned on the flashlight to check. (I don't have any sense of smell.) I woke my wife to ask her if she smelled smoke, and she mumbled she didn't so I went back to sleep. I don't think I'll trust candles anymore.

We have an "Innovage" LED lantern with a remote. I set it on the kitchen table and if I need to check on the dogs I aim the remote from the bedroom and turn on the light. It also has a manual switch. It uses 4 Size D batteries. Twenty bucks delivered on E-Bay..

If you are near a Walmart go to the RV section and buy a package of 3 wireless led puck lights The name is ritelite wireless LED accent light.
They have an adhesive backing and can be placed most anywhere in your camper. They have 5 LED that will last up to 100,000 hours and each operates off of 3 AAA batteries. They cost less than $19.00 for all three. Candles are not a good idea from several aspects.

I got a 6" flourescent lite that runs on 4 AA batteries. Lowe's had em for around $6. I get about 8 hours of light on a set of batteries. I have one on the bathroom sink, one right inside the entry door, and one for each bed. They work great for reading in bed, looking in closets, or whatever. Keeps the kids from leaving the 12v ceiling lights on wasting battery power.

All of our interior lights are of the double variety. We replaced one side with LED's to save juice when boondocking. The bathroom got a smaller version which stays on at night.

A small solar powered table light will get you thru the night. Try Walmart, Lowes or HD.

We have an interior light (12v) on the wall between the dinette and the sofa. It has a glass globe that is sort of like a bowl, open on the top.
I put a LED bulb in it and then I have a piece of foil that I set on it. It makes the perfect night light for the kids. Everyone sleeps yet I can see to check on them.
As for the night lights that run off of AC power, I have changed all the bulbs there to LED's they are nice. I even got some blue and green LED bulbs for the kid's rooms. WalMart a couple of bucks for two.

For getting up at night I just use one of my rechargable 12v or 24v flashlight attachments from my drill motor, they last a long time.Great for letting the dogs out at night as they are very bright/good security light. Also use it in bed sometimes for reading.

Thanks for your suggestions. There's a Walmart just a mile or two away, so I'll try it first -- right now.
