We don't eat out as much as before - I cook. That sounds like I'm a bad cook, which is NOT true (if you could see me, you'd know.) I still weigh WAY too much, but I'm down 10 - and I think it's cause we're eating less rich food for 1 thing. When you go out to eat and pay that amt. for food, you don't want to waste it, so you eat it...remembering all those starving kids in China don't cha know...AND I think the other reason I've lost some weight is we've been going to the pool 3 or 4 nights a week (105 deg. here keeps us indoors during the day). We swim constantly, but not vigorously, slow and steady and my knees have stopped hurting, I'm sleeping like a rock and burning those calories.

Sounds like you are really enjoying it. We are 'half-timers'. We spend the winters in Baja and will be leaving in a couple of weeks. I'm getting anxious to go, but we can't give up the stick house, too much junk that we can't bear to part with.

We still have a house full of 'stuff' and we've given away, sold and left a lot. We've offered a ton of furniture to the 4 kids and none want it - and it's pretty new! "Not my taste"...great - have fun paying off yours. But that's ok, we feel so liberated everytime we give the 'stuff' away it's amazing - and Bill's a hoarder - bad hoarder. But even he has 'seen the light'. Can't wait to get rid of the rest!
Isn't it wonderful to realize you don't "need" a sticks & bricks house with all the stuff to be happy? I retire next March and can't wait to give up all the stuff and hit the road.

Perhaps you're confusing 'being happy' with having fun and/or the fact that the vast majority of grownups PREFER to live in a stix/brix house. The reason I'm suggesting this is because I look around, and I see a whole lot of happy people who, by choice, live in a foundation house. Also, OUR OWN fulltiming experience (which included selling off two houses) thought us that there were way too many activities, and living conveniences, which can only be had by living in just the right brick house. But, we were happy either way, when we were fulltiming and when we were simply RVing (which is presently our current chosen lifestyle). Obvioulsy, one can experience happiness while engaged in different lifestyles. Therefore, I have to say: Isn't it wonderful to realize that you have the freedom to enjoy whatever lifestyle you prefer, and still live within your budget.

We are fortunate to have a large budget and we love saving money by NOT have a stix and brix. We spend money on traveling, not lawn mowers, house insurance, etc. It gives us even more travel money. (Even more when the house sells.) We think from time to time that we will rebuild...and then change our minds...and then change it back again...and again. So we're going to do NOTHING until we KNOW what we want. What I (CAPITAL I) want is for Bill to NOT work anymore. He's already had a stroke and has vision problems due to diabetes and I want him to enjoy doing whatever he wants to do - and he doesn't want the responsibility of a house, so that's the reason we probably aren't going to rebuild at least for the time being. Old habits are hard to break though and that's why we keep walking through stores thinking "Oh that would look great in a house...NO...we don't have to decorate a house." It's just getting used to the new norm. I think.
We start full timing Sept 29Th. Our house is under contract and hope nothing happens to stop the sale.
We have traveled quite a bit anyway. Months at a time so can't see this being much different. Except we don't have to worry about the house. Not getting rid of everything but about half of the furniture. Only keeping a few things.
