Hi, I'm hoping someone may shed some light on my situation. BTW, go easy on me, this is my first post and it's my 61st birthday. My DH was working on the truck/camper early this morning and woke me up to give me a birthday kiss and tell me "THE TRUCK WON'T START"
We just purchased this '01 Lance 810. It's our first RV.
DH attached a separate hot line (#8 black) from the truck battery to match up with the Lance harness black hot #8. The camper running lights are hooked up to the trucks trailer plug at the hitch, and that works fine. The white wire in Lances harness is grounded to the truck body. Any other wires from Lances harness are not needed, due to my truck handling the rest. After he attached the black wire to the truck battery, the truck wouldn't start. The truck battery is strong and the starter cranks strong and the truck started fine before he messed with this. Does anybody have a clue as to what may have gone wrong and caused our truck not to start? '03 F250 Super Duty. Thanks so much.

Try unhooking the RV and just use both the truck batteries. Those diesels need a lot of juice to crank. Other than that, no clue. Perhaps a "fusible link"?

Thank you Charles for the input. I should have been more specific. My truck is a F250 5.4L eng. gas. When the truck wouldn't start, he removed the #8 wire to the truck battery, and it still does not start. My truck is only equipped with a single battery. Thanks again

Does the engine crank now?
If not then you have a dead battery or a blown fuse/fusible link or the starter solenoid is stuck (lightly welded :-)...if so tap on it gently
if the starter runs but the engine does not crank the starter gear is not engaged, possibly worn
starting is a matter of fuel, spark, timing & air
no battery = no spark
do you have gas? is the engine flooded from earlier attempts? (if so just wait a good long while & try again...assuming the engine cranks)

OK Folks, Turns out it was the fuel pump in the gas tank. He was blaming the wiring because the truck started fine 10 minutes before he attached the wiring. Finished the wiring, and then the truck wouldn't start. Isn't that a crazy coincidence? All fixed now and 900 bucks poorer. Thanks for the responses.

Here's what I can make of my receipts
The labor price to replace the fuel pump was $247.00
The price of the fuel pump/sending unit part was $313.50 / OME Ford
Additional charge $195.00 labor for 2 brackets that had to be removed in order to remove the tank. These brackets were Fords brackets.
In addition I had to pay my towing.
The garages in my area are anywhere from $95. to $110. an hour
