Hi all..well we did it! we purchased a new Puma 25RLSS today. We have camped for many years in pop up and have upgraded.
Do any of you have any suggestions or tips as to what to equip our camper with? Where do you buy your supplies (bathroom and RV) on line or at the local camp stores?
Any tips for our first trip would be appreciated?
Thanks
J
Think plastic....and think light weight. We get biodegradable TP and ive seen it at wal mart. Buy toothbrushes new and just leave em in the TT then they are ready for when you go camping. Keep shampoo in its original container but put that in a zip loc baggie so it wont spill or leak on your travels. Use plastic travel mugs.....they take a beating and still keep onholding hot/cold beverages. Above all have fun !
Wal Mart has supplies. Single ply t.paper, small torpedo level to level it, Good sewer hose, water pressure regulator, Wheel chocks, white water hose,Calgon water softner for holding tanks, shelf liner (rubber) extra batteries for AC control rug for front entry and usual kitchen equipment, We use Corian dishes as they're lite and sturdy, coffee pot/filters, bath items/toilet items etc. We also use coated stainless steel pots/pans a few small baskets to keep things under the counter and whatever else you need for personal comfort. Too much, use you engenuity. Have a great time TT camping.
As Runtan & Turbo Diesel Dude say, most Wal-Marts have some RV supplies. What you will need will not be too different from your popups, except for the bathroom supplies. Anything you need that Wal-Mart doesn't have can be picked up at just about any RV dealer store, Camping World store, or online at CampingWorld.com and other online RV supplies vendors.
If you don't have a good WD hitch and sway control, and need to purchase these items, consider either the Reese Strait-Line Hitch (which includes the Dual-Cam HP sway control), or the Equal-I-Zer brand WD hitch/sway control, and you shouldn't ever have any problems with trailer sway. If you've been towing popups for years, as we once did, sway wasn't likely ever a problem for you. But with the upright TT, it can be a problem, which is both scary and dangerous.
Enjoy your new TT, and welcome to the self-contained part of RVing!

Install Maxxair covers over all vents to allow ventilation in rainy weather and to keep the covers from blowing off in a strong wind while underway.
Also consider a Pressure Pro system for RV tires at least and, if you have some extra money, for the tow vehicle.

We go as light as possible, using a lot of plastic containers and paper products. We used to take jars of mayo, mustard, but now I put what I think we'll use in the plastic ware. We have one 4 piece set of sturdy plastic plates and bowls, but seldom use them (unless for steaks!) We also have an over the door shoe holder with all the plastic pockets. It's over the bathroom door and holds all toiletries, soap, etc. Since we don't use the small bathtub in the camper, we use that space for linens, towels, and sometimes dirty clothes. For cooking I have an electric skillet and crock pot,and of course the regular pots and pans. I love to set a table outside the camper and do cooking there. The easier the better. I also use the microwave ALOT. Walmart has most anything you need, but don't buy the expensive RV toilet paper, any one ply such as Scott will do as well.
Above all think light weight. If you don’t need it…don’t take it. If you took it and didn’t use it…Leave it home. As for the TP, we use what we use at home and don't put any in the black tank. It doesn’t matter what brand you use, it gets on the sensors and gives you a bad reading. A diaper genie is the answer. Drop your TP in, give it a twist, and take your TP sausage out with your trash. And forget the expensive bio-degradable TP. JMO. Good luck. And enjoy your new TT.

Hmmmm for the past 35 years we've used whatever TP we use at home and never an issue. What is important is to use "LOTS" of water to keep things in suspension and to not flush until at least 3/4 full and if you need to dump before that add water to get the volume up.
