Does anyone know of a bike rack that attaches to the front hitch of a TT? I saw a picture of one that bolts onto the frame beside the battery rack. I've never been able to find one like it online at any manufacturer.

Not trying to start an argument, but when I priced them, I could buy a front hitch and a nice bike rack for my truck for about 1/2 the price of the topporails. I went with the front hitch on my truck and am very happy with it.

I have always wondered about carrying stuff on a hitch on the front of my truck. The thing that bothers me is the reduced airflow to the radiator, intercooler, trans cooler and so on that are on the front of the veh.
I use a receiver mount that is bolted to the square tubing bumper on the rear of my camper. I use a 4 bike thule bike rack that goes into the reciever hitch mount. I have towed this setup for thousands of mile with 2 adult mountain bikes and one kids bike and never had any issues with it. I do check it before every trip and ,make sure everything is tight

I was hoping to find some type of bike rack that would fit into the stake holes of a pickup and not interfere with a closed vinyl tonneau cover. I agree with Alcaudle that a front hitch with a standard bike rack may be a good choice.

I bought this BXJR117 bike rack and modified the front of my TT with a 4' piece of 2" square stock.

I still have some minor bounce loaded with 2 bikes. Well worth the effort, it works well.

Good luck.

Maddog, where are your LP bottles?
Mine sit right where your rack sits.

I did the fron Rec mount for the bikes and it worked okay, the only problem was blocking the headlights and when I wanted to carry the Generator I had a storage problem. Now I use the top pop rails rack and love it. Yes it is pricey $$ but it works so well it is worth every penny. The bikes ar easy to put up and down they secure very tightly and the rack is rock solid. I can see the bikes in my rear view at any moment and they do not interfere with any lighting like the frt rack. If I need to carry my Generator & the bikes at the same time it is very easy now.

Alcaudle, I'm running a Tahoe as a TV so the front hitch is not the way I wanted to go. I have a 4 bike Swagman for the rear hitch when not towing. The wife doesn't like picking all the bugs off her bike.

Thanks for the replies, I'm always amazed at how much info is out there with one simple request.
