It was the 12v duvac wire, I have it connected to the + side of the chassis relay solonoid (from the alt.), now I have to figure out why it is pulling amps when connected, at least I know where the problem is ..removed the wire and now the draw is .14amps ...normal, I believe.... thanks for all your wisdom and theories....Jim

Hey all... I have a .83 volt draw ( 3.51.amps) on my chassis batteries...any idea's on what to check?

this draw is on the chassis batteries not coach....thanks

Do you mean .83 amps? How are you measuring it?

All of the various things that have displays. Radio, speedometer, gages, maybe the hood or trunk light there must be more. .83 would be less than an amp. Good luck.

Set the meter for 10A instead of volts and measure it again. That will give you a much more meaningful reading. Any significant draw should give you a reading of full battery voltage (12.6V) when you measure voltage drop (how you're doing it now).

If you are getting .83 volts across the open knife switch, you don't have a problem. VOM's are typically 20,000 ohms of internal resistance per volt and that translates into a very small parasitic current draw.

With a .83 volt drop across a closed switch, it sounds like you have a very dirty sw, bad switch contacts. resistance should be very close to ZERO. This would cause a ZERO voltage drop across a zero resistance. JMHO
