I had never ever even dated a blonde. He kept pulling things out of the car. Flowers, candy, a scratch and sniff rose t-shirt. I can't even remember what else he had.
After dinner we were setting on the front porch with my son(setting between us....lol) watching the full moon. He said to me "I could tell you something, but it would scare you away" I didn't even ask what, as I knew we were both in love. That was in March of 1999, we married in December of that year.
I sadly lost my Skip a few weeks ago. Thank you for this post. It brought back such sweet memories.
What a bitter-sweet story. I'll bet those nine years are ones to cherish.
I am so sorry for your recent loss and pray you find the needed strength from friends, memories and the thought that Skip is smiling down on you.
Thanks, I do find talking (typing) about him helps, I am afraid every one will get tired of hearing how wonderful he was. Nine years of pure bliss. I was spoiled every minute of every day.
I was recently widowed, and attended a singles Sunday School class that was meeting at that time at the local Red Carpet Inn. I like to tell people we met at a motel. Been very happily married 34 years now.

This is not a story about the first time we met, that was uneventful in the dorms at college. This story is about when we met our senior year. I saw her walking down the street, so I stopped and said, "Wow, I haven't seen you in a while."

DITTO!.......I could NEVER tire hearing about TRUE love!
Well I met my bride of 45 years on an airplane. She was the Flight Attendent and I was an licensed mechanic with Eastern AirLines. I had been visiting my 3 kids who were staying with my parents. I kidnapped them when my first wife was dragging them around several states. I walked up the aircraft stairs and was instantly smitten by this beautiful FA with a slight German accent. So I hunted down the seat where she had her purse stashed and sat down. She was not pleased as it was end of a long day and trip. But half way to Atlanta I had sweet talked her into borrowing my new Singer sewing machine. We dated for almost 2 years and she fell in love with my 3 kids and I fell totally for her.
This was the days when FA could not be married. I would really laugh when we would meet her return flight and the kids would run out to airplane steps and greet Mommy. The look on passenagers faces were riot. Her's this tall lovey FA with 6 & 4 year old sons and daughter almost 3 greeting her shouting Mommy, Mommy.
I still tell her I had to marry her to get my sewing machine back. BTW that sewing machine (one with all the gismos) still works and we are more in love than every before.

My wife and I are high school sweet hearts from different high schools. She used to get tutored (college prep) by a teacher that lived just down the block. They spotted my very nice '72 Monte Carlo in the driveway. For some reason, I wasn't out cleaning it when they saw it as I often did then. They both wondered who owned it but they never saw me over the next several weeks. Fast forward to a small teen dance club where her friend had convinced my wife to go since her then boy friend had ditched her one too many Friday nights to spend time with his buddies. I was there with my buddies and we were looking for girls. I spotted her for the first slow dance and after a little prodding from her friend again, she decided to dance with me. We talked some that night and as we all left together she saw that I was the one with the nice car. It was funny looking back because they both had this really surprised looks on their faces when I stopped at the car to get in and say goodnight. After that they cruised the town and would stop to talk to me any time they spotted the car. That was the summer of '88 and we have been together ever since. We have never had arguments either. I am really surprised that we are so compatible with each other. I still have the car too. All my best school memories still with me. We both get a kick out stepping back to those days riding in the car. Unfortunately, she had a falling out with her friend from high school and they haven't spoken in years. I do know that it was very hard on her when it happened. I would still like to thank her for getting my wife out of the house that night. Where ever she is.
I met Doug when I was about 12 yrs. old, he was my brother's best friend and he was at our house constantly.
I didn't like him at all, he always teased me about something and I just thought he was a jerk.
After they graduated they went off to college and didn't see much of him and really didn't give him much thought.
Then I met him again and we started talking and talkin and talking, then we went to see my brother who had married, then we went on a date and many more, then he was drafted and went to Nam and I missed him like crazy, never looked at or dated anyone else.
After he came home we got married and on Sept. 5th we'll celebrate 38 years of marriage and I couldn't have chosen a nicer, kinder sweetheart than Doug, he's a gem.
