Is this a new engine for cummins ISX 650 HP @ 1800 rpm's? I saw this in an add for a 2009 Country Coach Veranda from Lazy Days.

In reality it is a reflashed ISX 600 that was used in 07,and 08. The post smog ISX 600 was down a bit on power compared to the presmog 06 motor. They upgraded the power and enhanced the torque to off set the regeneratitive exhaust system. The ISX 600 has 1850 ft/lbs of torque. Whats funny is that the pre-smog unit in my coach actually has better fuel milage than my old ISM 500.

Isn't the ISX the new version of the old 855's which became N14 before they became ISX?

I always have to wonder when I see things like this.
My large 4 wheel drive tractor is only 350 horse and does considerably more than any MH would ever be asked to do. Granted, it's geared for it.
One of my tandem grain trucks is only 200 horse (DT466) with an old allison 3 speed and it humps 60,000 lbs at 55 mph.
What do you need 600 horse for? Thinking on running it at the nascar race or giving John Force a run for his money?

The ISX can put out 650 and more, but the various hp engines are not internally the same nor do they use the same turbo, injectors, etc. The ISX is not an updated N14 either. Basically, ISXs can only be upgraded in hp to the limits of the internal and external parts. I started with an ISX400/1450 (basic range 375 to 450hp) and recalibrated the ECM to 450/1650. I could have gone to 500/1650 with the ECM, but the internal parts weren't built for more than 450/1650 in my particular engine. Many mhs have used the ISX525 as a step up from the ISM500. The ISX525 can be boosted to over 550 by tweeking the ECM, but the ISX600 (Signature) is yet more robust internally with different turbo, injectors, etc. This is what I recall from talking with the Cummins Northwest folks, and I may be incorrect on some aspects.
