Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is a drain plug on the block for the Ford V10.
I'm changing coolant and would like to drain the block.

Many thanks,
Dorian.

Yes.
There should be one on each side, right below the exhaust manifolds.
Be sure to remove the coolant hoses on the oil cooler to drain that coolant.

System holds 27.9L (29.4 quarts).

Hi Home Skillet,
Found the plugs, the one on the drivers side (left side) was at the rear below the manifold (as you indicated), and was easy to remove.
But the right side (passenger) was in the middle behind the engine mounting.
I could not get anything in the undo this one, so I reverted to flushing several times and then draining the one side, including the oil cooler unit.

I ended up with some 5L of water left in the block.
I then added the correct amount of antifreeze (for 27.9L) and distilled water.
Ran the engine several times, with the heater full bore..... no air locks ... top up the water ....Job done.

Once again many thanks for all your help.

No worries.
You can't totally drain all the coolant anyway.
The way you did it is perfect.

Curious what you did with the drained coolant?

Over here we aren't allowed to drain it into the storm sewer system.

It must be captured and taken to a disposal site.

Is your country the same?

Well, over here it not as strict, but I took mine to a friend who works in a garage to dispose of. The flushing water I lost down the sewer / fresh water systems!!!
