I have learned don't expect other people to love your dogs, cats or children as you might. Keep them well behaved and unobtrusive. If they are not then all bets are off.
We travel with 4 dogs, 2 golden retrievers (therapy dogs in training), 1 American Eskimo, 1 terrier mix. We always call ahead to the CG and inform them of our tribe. No problems what so ever.
I do however have a problem with unruly children. Just this past weekend, we were in Canada and our dogs were doing their business. We were picking up as usual. The kids decided to point out the fact of what the dogs were doing. The adults with the kids made rude comments about the dogs as well as to what we were doing picking up. I was very close to making a rude comment back, but decided to be the bigger person and say nothing. The children with these adults continued to yell and run all over the place. My "children" quietly rested at our site.
If my dogs were not well behaved, they would not be traveling with us.

If a person doesn't like dogs, there's something basically wrong with them.
It really isn't the dogs (I had a small dog as a pet for our children when they were young), it's the owners who don't keep their dogs under control (and IMHO there are too many of these)... yapping, aggressive advancement towards you when walking or cycling, urinating on your site & of course not cleaning up the droppings properly.
A number of times I've encountered folks who just leave their dogs in the RV while away for the day & the dog constantly yapped. Not only is this very annoying to me and other RV-ers but is CRUEL to the pet.
EH!
