Wife and I are booked in the KOA (10-15 Oct) and looking forward to Leavenworth and the Oktoberfest.

Wondering if anyone had been there for this event or were planning on going.

I have been to seven Oktoberfests in Munchen over the last 30 years, or so, and they were all magnificent events.

We won't expect 11 beer tents with seveal thousand people in each one, but we are hoping to have a good time.

While I have not attended the Oktober Fest, I have been by the KOA and it is a pit. Check rvparkreviews and see what others have to say about the place. There are other better parks to stay at in Leavenworth. Should be a fun trip though.

I have stayed at the KOA and it was ok,but then you're not gonna be staying there during the day, you'll be in town drinking beer and eating and won't care when you get back to your site what it's like..They have built a really nice drinking hall there which has a great stage and concession areas..There was also a shuttle when we were there and not one from Icicle creek RV park. We have stayed at that one also and had trouble getting in and out of our site as it was a bit tight and our neighbors had company that had parked their cars and gone into town and they were gonna charge us for an extra day as we hadn't left by check-out time and they needed the space...I hooked up crooked, trimmed a bush and pulled out across the grass and left deep tiremarks, then told them to charge the damage to the other people and the extra day and left. Never heard a word..

The KOA is tight and not level sites. Place is OK for small to medium size rigs. A better bet is Icicle River RV, but you definitely better get reservations NOW.

I'm not a KOA fan and stayed at the one in Leavenworth only because it was the only place I could get a site. It was OK, but tight for our rig (40' DP). Didn't matter, we weren't there for the campground. Leavenworth should be a blast during Octoberfest.

I've heard Icicle River RV Park is better, but haven't stayed there.

We have gone to Oktoberfest in Leavenworth 3 or 4 times and haved stayed at the KOA all those times. I don't have any real complaints about the KOA except that it is tight and can be noisy during Oktoberfest (but that is to be expected). They have a free shuttle into town which is great. They are nice folks and they have free firewood (which is good for the price you pay during Oktoberfest). We tried to get in there this year, but they were already booked, so we will be at the Blu Shastin a bit out of town. It seems to be quite nice and very reasonable. We drove through Icicle Creek and were less than impressed. Our first impression was the man at the front entrance who needed a case of deoderant before we could talk to him. The sites are even more tight than the KOA and some of them, we could not figure how you would get into them.

Anyway, we will be there the same weekend as you just a different campground. You can't go wrong at this festival. It's a "bit" smaller than what you are used to but they know how to party. Just remember to stick around after the first go 'round of the parade because they do a second turn to make it long enough. It's a small town. It really is fun and the music is great and you can talk to lots of fun people. I love going every year!!! It's a short drive (about 1 and half hours from our house) and worth every minute.

Have fun!!!

Kelly

P.S. My husband says they have really good eclairs at one of the bakeries their and don't forget to go to the Hat Shoppe!!!!!
