I am looking to buy new F-350 PSD short bed, crew cab, SRW to tow a Cardinal 29ft fiver. Would you reccomend non slider hitch or should I look at an automatic slider?

PullRite SuperGlide...expensive (sort of) but less than a trip to the body shop to get the rear of your cab and front of your RV repaired! We've had ours for 4 years now...and sleep better for the comfort it gives me!

There are those who say you don't need a slider BUT there are many who thought that way and regretted it.
Take a piece of string 48" (1/2 the width of the trailer) long and hold one end where your trailer pin will fit in the hitch. Swing the other end around and see where it contacts the truck cab.
Now it's your decision!!

guess I will have to be the smart butt. I put my money in the fuel tank. If we are at a state of the art where we cannot watch our turns what is next.

I got it I am gonna start a chauffer franchise.

Dave, when I picked up my current fiver, without the Pullrite tiller plate, I locked my Superglide so it did not rotate or slide.
I watched the fiver to cab clearance VERY closely on the way home and there was one gas station with a steep ramp and a tight turn. The corner of my trailer was less than 2" from my truck cab when my truck rear wheel fell into a pothole. Trailer JUST touched my cab but did no damage. (I polished out the very slight scrape to the paint). Had the pothole been 1/2" deeper it would have been a different story.
So I was very happy to install the Superglide tiller plate and have the confidence that I will never get that close again.

My recommendation is always at least a manual slider in a shortbed. And it is best to have an automatic slider, for the most worry free situation.

Others will disagree, but that is my recommendation. Which is what is requested.

Someone now set the rule that automatic slider hitch brand names are not to be mentioned. It offends some people.

we even have to use the slider hitch to back into our driveway, its a tight fit with lots of pine trees. Go for the slider-extra piece of mind! Dona

I promise you won't regret it. I look at the $1000-$1200 extra cost as an insurance premium you pay once and is a small part of the overall cost of your rig.
Others have different opinions, I respect that, but I would not have the same peace of mind as I have now if I did not have my auto-slider (name omitted!)
Even parking in my driveway at home (see sig pic) would be a "close encounter" event if I did not have a slider.
