Thanks everyone for so many good replies. I also talked to a friend that stayed at Shenanigans park last March. He didn't recommend going there because the spaces were so tight that you have to be careful your slide outs don't bump your neighbors trailer, and had to move it three times before dropping. He also said they had to keep the blinds pulled as they were literlly looking inside someones livingroom. He also said that ABC was tight also, and recommended going to the KOA in Branson. Has anyone ever stayed there before? We have a small dog, and would like something rather shaded and semi-private.
We stayed at Branson KOA. Place is built on a hill. Lots of trees making it difficult to setup on some sites with slides out. Nice clean park. But we left there after one night because their Wi-Fi only worked in office or a few close by sites. They claimed they were correcting the above problems but not during our stay.
I suppose small sites are in the eyes of the beholder. I think you are making a mistake passing up ABC if you are going to see the sights. We stay there every year for months at a time in a 39fter fiver with 4 slides and cc dually pick up. We have PLENTY of room and we have a small dog. But again, it depends on what you are looking for. They are not NO1 in that town for nothing. You see the praises for the others, why would they be no 1?

Just water and electric hookups (no sewer) but it's nice, inexpensive, on the lakefront, more camping than parking, and you don't have to deal with traffic.
It's two miles south of SDC, making access a breeze, you will be traveling opposite of traffic even heading into town in the morning and returning in late afternoon.
I'd suggest Oak Grove Campground--right off HWY 76. If you
have "trailer life" or other campgroud/RV park books, you'll find them. Very reasonably priced.
A small RV campground, all paved with nice "real estate" between U and the next RV'er. That time of year, the crowds will be much less and traveling around will be easy.
This year, with "fuel" prices, Branson has experienced a different crowd. 76 hasn't been that busy at all. I know, I'm there once a week.
ABC is a very nice RV park, but to the South of ABC, a new development is going in and the DUST and NOISE are terrible. That won't last to long, but it is something to consider.

I just got back from Branson and stayed at COOPER CREEK RESORT which is right off the main drag (76). We were 2 miles or so from the strip right on the lake. Very nice, well maintained CG and close the the action.

We frequent Branson fairly often and we like to stay at The Wilderness it is a clean and very friendly park shuttle to Silver Dollar City and very woodsy!

Not bad if you just want a place to hookup.there is a trolley down town also.Free.
