Yes the libby is not ideal but that is all I have The trailer is in the weight spec for the libby. But Towing at 55 mph it felt like I am in control and 55 mph is right there where most people tow so I am happy.

I used to drive 70-75 mph. I got between 5-6 mpg on my 8.1 GMC Sierra 2500HD. And, I had lots of tire trouble tread separations and blow-outs. I now drive between 60 - 62 (where my Allison shifts to over-drive), and I now get in the range of 8.5 - 9 mpg, and I haven't had any tire trouble in a while. Not sure if the tire trouble was the speed or switching to Michellin XPS Ribs, maybe both. Just traded for a new Open Road with load range G tires(yes I know about Pilgrim), and I'll see how the mileage and tire issues go.

At any rate, slowing down made a near 50% difference in fuel mileage. That is definitely something to be considered. IMHO Slow down, enjoy the scenery, and you won't have to stop as often for fuel, which will make-up for much of the little time lost by slowing down.

Obviously road conditions dictate a lot, but generally, on interstates I'm about 65 mph (though on our recent trip out west, the truck seemed to settle in at 67 mph), on other highways, usually not more than 60-62 mph, again depending on lots of factors. Sometimes slower...

My D'max just purrs at 2000 rpms. That's 62-63mph so that's where my cruise is set (unless the speed limit is less).

If i had the patience to sit behind people on the highway....i would keep it at 60.

Unfortunately i tend to be more in the 70-75 range..........

I am usually tired and drive slower on the way home.

Its always the balance....wife - slow down..kids - how much further.........it really depends on the highway road surface and condition......

I will ammend the above and say 55-75

I tow at the speed where the RPMs of my motor make the most power (and best mileage) 1900RPM or about 59MPH. I try to stay with the trucks in the right lane on the interstate unless they are running fast. I don't like to cause a rolling traffic block by driving too slow if traffic is heavy.

I do the same. My DMax seems to run best about 1700RPM which is about 100KM/h (about 63MPH)

90 - 100 kmph/55 - 60 mph. The truck will almost always stay in OD at these speeds and returns my best average gas mileage at just over 10mpg. I'm not in a hurry I'm going camping!

I try to stay at about 60 mph because of the max speed rating of the ST tires of 65 mph.

Seems I saw if you were going to go over 65mph, the air pressure could be upped on ST tires? Anybody know?

I usually try to stay around 65, but on our way home from the beach this weekend I kept it right about 73 most of the way (~250 miles). Still got 8mpg out of my 8.1L which I thought was pretty good.
