Hello, Now I have narrowed my choices,I think, to a Damon Challenger 376 and a Itaca Sunova 35J Bunkhouse. does anyone have any thoughts on comparing these two models. I like the idea of the two couches but like the king bed in the Sunova. It would be greatif i could find a model that has the king of the Sunova, the two couches of the Challenger and the third slide and longer bunks of the Hurricane.
I have not looked at the sunova in person yet but hope to do it this weekend. Thanks any suggestions good or bad.

If you have narrowed down to these two, it's basically a toss up...but I would go with Itasca due to Winnebago's support...Damon can be good or bad as can be Itasca but the win goes to Itasca because of Winnebago..I'll never forget when one year my wife and I went to Hershey and there was a very nice couple who wore buttons "Damon sucks so save your bucks"......obviously he didn't get the satisfaction from his motorhome he wanted.

I see you have four kids, as do we. We have a Sunova 35J and absolutely love it. Plenty of room for our family. The king bed is nice, but there are other features in the Winnebago product that sold me when we were shopping. At the time we bought, the Hurricane was the main competition for us. While the Hurricane had the third slide which I liked and offers great features for the money, we were sold on the fiberglass roof, the coach heat feature and others in the Winnebago. The overall build quality seemed topnotch to me, and after 20 months of ownership I can tell you I could not be more pleased with the product. If I were shopping today, I would probably buy the Itasca again, although I would give a serious look to the Tiffin bunk model.
I can't comment on the Damon other than that the two couches would be nice. Also, is that the floorplan with the split bath? If so, that seems like a nice feature as well, which would be useful if someone were in the bedroom sleeping or getting dressed and someone else needed to use the facilities. So, from a floorplan standpoint the Challenger presents a good argument. I am not qualified to comment on Damon's quality or standard features due to unfamiliarity.
All you can do is look them both over carefully, determine what features are most important to your family, and make a decision. You'll get some good advice on here, in particular related to quality. Listen to those with first hand knowledge. Weigh it all, make a decision and have fun with the process. Good luck!

We own a Daybreak bunk model (a step lower than the Challenger) and like it very much. We chose it for the floorplan and price. The quality has been great in a little over a year and 8,000 miles. Price not being an issue, we would have gone with the Itasca for some of the features (roof, dual pane windows as well as some of the others mentioned here). The Challenger floorplan is difficult to beat. The price being equall I'm not sure which way I would go.
The Itasca seemed a little more refined to me. At the time we purchased our unit the Winnie was about $15,000 more than the deal we made on the Daybreak. That was a lot of gas money. I believe that I would give Tiffin a look if I were in the market now. They make a four slide bunkhouse that is in the same basic price range you are looking if I am not mistaken. I see you are from Mass, Flagg RV in Rhode Island and Mass carries Daybreak, Challenger and Itasca. Crossroads RV in Middleboro carries Tiffin. Arlington RV in RI carries Winnebago. We purchased at Flagg and were quite satisfied with the deal and service.

Damon was nice but Itasca got our money. More money yes but worth it in our case.
