Where is the best place to stay with a 40' motorhome east of yellowstone. Maybe on Hwy 14 between yellowstone and Cody.

The closes CG is 19 miles from the park. You might look at CGID7707Rocky Mountain RV Park in Gardine, MT (1 mile to North Entrance) or Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, MT (West Entrance).

If you want an East Entrance Park, you might want to check out http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ or the trailer life directory for more info about the East entrance CGs. We stated in Cody on the way back from Yellowstone and the Absaroka Bay RV Park was a nice urban RV park that was cheaper than some of the other options. Have a blessed time.

there are some national forest campgrounds between Wapiti and Yellowstone's gate. Rex Hall is probably the best one.
But
there is a forest fire going on up that way, so at the very least, it will be smoky and smelly.
Buffalo Bill Cody State Park is about 10 miles east of Cody and is really very nice, water and dump, no elec. great views, etc.
but it might be smoky too.. from the wind blowing down the canyon.

In Wapati about 30 miles east of Yellowstone and 18 mi west of Cody is Yellowstone Valley Inn. Nice RV park and great restaurant. We were there in July.

Yellowstone Valley Inn has big level gravel sites for your 40 fter. Right on the Shoshone River and very scenic. Try their web site.
