Our 01 Endeavor had one in it. When it stopped holding water It was because TP would get caught in the seal keeping the valve from fully closing. Using a coat hanger or some such hi tech tool you can clean out the seal. I was surprised how much stuff was in the seal and how tightly packed it was. As a side note, ours suddenly stopped working just as we were leaving for a trip. As it would flush it would close then go to the open position and stay there. Not the way you want to travel. Replaced it with a foot operated one since the electronic controller cost over $200.00. Did like it when it worked though.
Bill, if it's working, keep the new one for a spare. We have one and like it, but have never had a problem with it not holding water. Yours probably sat dry for awhile and now with the seal swelling from the brake fluid, it will remain solid.

Sometimes the linkage on the trip rod wears just enough to not completely close the ball. Tap the lever just enough to close it a little more, but not enough to reflush it. I have one like that right now, but am too lazy to take it off and tear it apart.
