I am pretty sure that a 8' wide 2008 Shamrock 233 that we looked at back in March had a similar GVWR of 4808 lbs on it's sticker

Our 8' wide 2009 Shamrock 233 has a GVWR of 4808 on it's sticker. I just checked the axle spec plates and they each show a capacity of 1364 Kg which I believe is around 3007 lbs.

Dem's the big axles, 3000 pounds each. These boost the axle rating to 6000 pounds and you get the rest of the GVWR on the ball.

The old axles were 1000kg each or 4400 pounds total for the pair.

Chuck,

Thanks for the confirmation on the axles.

Now, is it worth the hassles to get a new sticker with the correct GVWR as some have done or not?

The stickers on the side of the trailer indicate that we can carry 600 lbs of gear. From this discussion, it seems like the trailer can handle 1600 lbs of gear. We may bring more than 600 lbs, but no where near 1600 lbs.

I am leaning towards not bothering with the stickers and printing out this discussion. I plan on keeping it with the manuals so that in 4 or 5 years when I have forgotten all of this and I dig out the manuals, I will be reminded.

Yes! If this was 100 pounds or so I'd not bother, but this is a 1600 pound difference!

Contact Forest River about the incorrect data plate on the outside and sticker on the door under the sink. They will tell you they had a computer glitch and somehow the wrong data got entered for your axles. More like an employee error, but be polite!

They'll need your VIN. It's on both documents and stamped in the trailer A-frame. They will to produce a new VIN plate for the outside and new sticker inside. Ask them for a copy of the factory weight printout too, it should be in their files.

If they telll you that a dealer must install these plead time and distance.

This sort of error is not rare. The GVWR on the VIN plate on my '02 Coleman Bayside was understated, but only by 100 pounds. I did not change this one since it was only 100 pounds. One VIN plate on my motorboat was just plain wrong and appeared to be a typo. The other was OK. They sent me a replacement plate and the epoxy to fit it.

Chuck,

Thanks for the info. I have decided to request the info from Forest River and print out this thread.

One thing I know is that the dealers often have outdated brochures in stock and also website info, but usually a call to the sales manager or the service manager can get you someone to go copy the actual sticker on a like model and tell you. Forest River's factory was happy to give us this info when we were shopping as well and did apologize for the wrong data on their websites and brochures and said the production of those are farmed out (we all have excuses I guess for our bloopers)

Just FYI, our 2009 23SS 'factory completion sticker' is GVWR 6390 lbs (2899 KG), minus UVW =4430 lbs, 2009 kgs. , minus 31 gal freshwater @ 8.3 lb per gallon = 257 lbs (117 kg)... minus 9 gallons propane @ 4.2lbs per = 41 lbs (18kg) = CCC of 1662 pounds (754kg) and of course you have to deduct dealer installed options and all that. We do have the 3000 axles.

We have scale weighed pretty loaded (except very little freshwater) and got a weigh ticket of 6001 once and 5993 once and 6214 the third time. We got a tongue weight ticket of 612, another 617 and another 682. Same loads all 3 times. Same scale. Different scale operators. None of the times would he do an axle weigh thing. (no reason why, just said nope, I'll do a total trailer weight (TV off the scale) and a tongue weight and that's all. So we're planning to do a weighing on a different scales on the next trip that takes us past a different one when we're loaded.
