I need to run a wire from the battery to the passenger compartment on a 2007 Malibu, after a couple of houre I gave up. Is thjere a safe way to do this without possible damaging something

The way I did it on my Vue is tape the wire to a long/thin screw driver, lube the screw driver with a little dish soap, and push it thru the rubber boot where the other wires go (new hole), untape on the other side and pull the screw driver back.
PS: A trick with the tape to make it easier to untape is to fold the end back, sticky to sticky side, leaving a tab. otherwise it will be impossible to find the end.
