it seems reserveamerica is always booked for the weekends. especially when it happens to be the week you can get off. where do some of you go that doesn't require a reservation?

I call myself lucky in that regard, we have two riding areas close to home that I can almost always get into - even on the major weekends one of them has a huge overflow parking area and they don't turn folks away - then on those times the trails are still open enough that I never feel packed in. Hope you find something close to home!

Not sure what you're after but I'm always able to find an open spot, spots that are FREE, up in Mammoth. It's 13000 degrees but I'm sure you can find some open areas in Ocotillo Wells, Glamis or Jawbone

guess we are fortunate in GA. State parks and most of the fed sites have a set aside of "walk up" spots. They can never be 100% reserved. Of course, the ranger did tell me, some folks get there wednesday for a walk-up to use for the weekend.

yah i already know the dez is pretty much vacant. those are the places i go to when it's riding season. but when you're not bringin the toys, where do you go when reservations are full? i.e. i wanted to go camp along san onofre last weekend but of course, it's always full when i look at reserveamerica. is there any other sites besides reserveamerca.?

koa huh? how is it over there? anyone in the socal area ever camp at red beach in oceanside? it's right off the las pulgas exit. this is where i go when it's hard to find a rv site. just like camping at pismo but w/out the riding. although they're not always available for the weekend as it's also shared as a training area for the marines.

This is easy. We camp almost every weekend from October to June and hit all the BLM areas like Jawbone, Dove Sprongs, Rand, red mountain, OW or whereever and it is always free! Bring your big group or join one!
