Carriage sold Ducted low profile A/c heat pump units as 15,000BTU units when in fact they were 13,500BTU units. (Carriage was unaware of error) Carriage didn't want to admit to the problem until I contacted Carrier and confirmed what the unit was. Our dealer changed our unit. Note Carrier at this time does not make a LOW PROFILE UNIT above 13,500 BTUS.
If you are in warranty and have this problem have your dealer replace the unit

Jim, what is your problem with his post. I guess he could have combined the two into one post but both problems seem to be legit.

If I had a Carriage or any other unit and it was suppose to have a 15k AC/Heat Pump and it only had a 13.5k I would be PO'ed. I read his post as trying to inform others of the issue 2 post or not.

I don't know, guess I may have jumped the gun, just thought it was funny that he joined today and right off the bat he had some gripes about, what I thought was a pretty good manufacturer. Guess your right, my bad if I seemed to have "flamed". Seems like they did the right thing in replacing the A/C, but sounds like they won't be able to fix his slide problem by the way the manufacturer wanted to do it..Don't know, guess I just took it wrong. Sorry about that, hope you get everything squared away with your 5er.

I took it as more of look and see if you got what ya paid for more than trying to bad mouth new to the forum or not. I think it was a good PSA. I just went through some very hot weather a few weeks ago got to looking and the yahoos put the 15000 in the rear and the 13500 in the front. Switched them out and we are fine if anyone else has that trouble look and se what ya got.

rkentzel: Do I understand you correctly? You switched your 15,000 BTU unit to the front as in over the bedroom and you put the 13,500BTU unit over the lounge or are you driving a motorhome and they already had the "big' unit in the wrong location over the bed. I'm confused!!!
Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!

This thread really got my attention because we are in the final stages of trading for a new '06 carryover unit. The spec sheet indicates a 15000 btu a/c w/heat pump. I wonder if the problem extends back to that year or if it's just with current year models. Guess I'd better check with my dealer, too.
