Online News Article -- One tough cookie!

POINT MARION, Pa. (AP) - An 85-year-old woman boldly went for her gun and busted a would-be burglar inside her home, then forced him to call police while she kept him in her sights, police said. "I just walked right on past him to the bedroom and got my gun," Leda Smith said.

Smith heard someone break into her home Monday afternoon and grabbed the .22-caliber revolver she had been keeping by her bed since a neighbor's home was burglarized a few weeks ago.

"I said 'What are you doing in my house?' He just kept saying he didn't do it," Smith said.

After the 17-year-old boy called 911, Smith kept holding the gun on him until state police arrived at her home in Springhill Township, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh.

The boy will be charged with attempted burglary and related offenses in juvenile court, Trooper Christian Lieberum said. He was not identified because of his age.

"It was exciting," Smith said. "I just hope I broke up the (burglary) ring because they have been hitting a lot of places around here."

I recall years ago when I read a police "Echo" (Anyone remember FIDOnet)

We were chatting about guns as home defense weapons and one person remarked that he'd gone out on a call and after he arrested the bad dudes he had to change uniforms.. You see. the old one got all dirty from Rolling On Ground Laughing.

Seems these young punks had decided to "Get Paid" (Rip someone off) so they hopped in their getto cruiser and headed out of town.. And across a state line,, Into a state which had an "Open Cary" law The found a nice elderly couple (80's 90's) and decided to relieve them of their valuables.

When the deputy got there there there was Grandma with her purse special, and grandpa with his seim-automatic, And the punks on their knees begging for mercy.

Poor deputy fell down he was laughing so hard

But he cuffed and stuffed the punks all the same.

NO shots were fired, at least not at people.

If that was CA she would no doubt would be charged having a loaded gun, false imprisonment, kidnapping and who know what else some commie DA could come up with.
