Spent 4 months and countless hours and $$$$ looking at every used rotted out camper within 400 miles. If I found a good one it didn't have hot water, or no oven.... or no air.
When I did find something close the price was almost 2/3 of new.
I finally gave up and bought new with everything we wanted right from the factory with a waranty.
There may be some good used deals out there but I couldn't find one.

CindyBR777 wrote: If you had your pick...would it be new or used? Advise on buying both please. I just did pick...used. Just got a 1996, 29', class C MH for 11 K in pristine condition. It has everything we could ask for. It was high mileage, but for the little traveling we do, I expect the 7.5L engine will outlast the RV. The same thing today would cost 70K, which would be out of the question. No brainer for us. Let someone else take the depreciation hit.
Edit: Given that we have been camping for 12 years in a vintage TT we got for FREE, I guess you could say we are not afraid of used equipment!!

I agree with gruffy. The used ones we looked at were almost as expensive as a new one. So, we too ordered ours from the factory and got the waranty too. Thats not saying there's not good used campers out there, we just couldn't find one. Good luck with your decision.

Would you buy a used toilet or mattress?
I've yet to consider a used camper nor will i but certainly would'nt condem those that don't mind used.

As we got older and wiser, (we hope) we ALWAYS buy used.
I absolutely can't think of any way we will purchase a new, "depreciating asset," that drops in value as fast as these things do. Every time we think we'd like to buy new, those first 4 years of depreciation raise their ugly head. I really doubt we'll ever go there. We bought our present coach for less than half the MSRP only three years after it was originally sold. (actually half of what it sold for) Now just think where we would be now if we had bought it new...
The toilet and bed in our RV were really very clean. We've survived the transition to this bed from the old used bed quite well. (nope, not even a bed bug...)

Depends on what you are after, If you are looking for a TT, then I recommend new if you can afford it. Our 1st TT was a used 1977 TT with a weak floor. I figured how hard would this be to fix and to my surprise, was alot harder than I expected. I was always tinkering on it, repairing everything. I have seen used TT out there about a year old or so but like they said earlier, you are almost paying as much as a new one but without any warranties. Choice is yours, we have had both but I strongly recommend new if possible.

How about a new one at a used price????
After National went out of business (bankrupt), I began looking for one figuring I'd get a sweet deal on a new one. I did and we are extremely happy with our 07 Sea Breeze.
If you buy used you'll have zero warranty on anything over 3 years any way. I have a new coach I got for under 80K (35', V10 F53 Ford,
Model 1350) We have 3/36 Chassis warranty, 3 years on all dometic ac and refer, 1 year on furnace from Atwood and the Microwave is 1 year.
You won't get that with a used unit.
You can go new but will still pay a heafty price even with the market down.
Front and rear cap molds were purchsed and are available if needed and the rest is fiberglass. Windshields are available several places.
It was a no brainer for me. I even had the Dometic Refer recall fixed at no cost at camping world after simply calling Domitec and registering my model.
I've heard some state they would never purchase anything where the company has bankrupted but it just made good sense to me to take the plunge. Even if I had to replace an engine after a few years, I've already saved the cost of one including labor from the MSR of 119K.
It probably sold new last year for around 109K but I did get a deal.
Had to drive from East Tennessee to Alabama to pick it up but it was worth every mile. If the economy doesn't get a turn around soon there will be lots more deals out there from others going Chapter 11.
Good luck.
