Just to play a little devil's advocate here - the flip side of this is that with RV sales marginal at best with fuel prices the way they are - this would be a great incentive to someone just thinking about buying an RV. They could throw in the site for a year, which would allow them to reduce thier RV inventory and the buyer wouldn't have to worry about fuel prices or even worry about if they have the proper tow vehicle. If they have a choice of reducing their inventory with the sale of a 20k rv or renting a site for 2k or so (which they could always rent later if need be) it would make sense to save the site. If this campground is as nice as you say it is, I'm sure they probably can afford to set aside a few seasonal sites with the expectation they will rent them next year if they don't need them for RV sales. Again - just playing a little devil's advocate here!

My tour of Driftwood CG revealed that it is nothing special. There are plenty of other CG's in Cape May County from which to choose. I'm in Cape May for the whole summer and chose another location. If you don't have kids or pets and prefer quiet, PM me for a CG recommendation.

Don't feel bad that is how they have been for years now. I used to seasonal there but got out when I could they change the rules to suit their needs. She did you a favor to see what they are like before you spent to much money there, as said before there are plenty of other places down the shore.

Maybe the folks at Hidden Acres will give you a better price (they're on a lake!).

I haven't run into this at a CG, but have all the time at Marinas. Here in our area, if you buy from Hinson Power Sports, you can get a slip at the marina tomorrow, but if you already have a boat or buy elsewhere, the wait list is 3 to 9 years, depending on size and or location of the slip. With today's economy and RV sales, I believe you will start seeing more of this in campgrounds also.

He who owns the land makes the rules. If you want to camp there you play by the rules. The place we are at in NH has the same rule, seasonal sites are reserved for new purchases from the RV center. You can be a monthly camper without buying but to be a true seasonal, you need to buy. We wanted in so we bought a TT and have since upgraded to a Park Model.
