There are at least two auto-retract awning manufacturers’ out there. I think you'll find that the majority of the users shut the sensors off because they're totally inaccurate or don't work at all. This is one of those things where there's nothing better than a human sensor.

Just shut it off and push the button I did not get it with my power awning because of the same problems you are having.By the way did it ever work maybe they miswired it.

a "dumb" idea, sort of like designing a fantastic fan so it needs a rain sensor instead of just getting a MaxxAire to beging with.

I have the A & E auto awning w/wind sensor. The wind sensor part never has worked. I disabled the sensor part and just tie the awning down. Unless a rear guster comes down the valley.

We have had an A&E and now have a Carefree of Colorado -- both with wind sensors and both have worked great! If I were having the kind of problem you are having I would be bugging the dealer and the manufacturer for some help. More than once the wind sensor on each has saved my awning.

Get it checked out.

If it's an A&E and never worked properly I would suspect that the DIP switches in the control box were never set correctly right from the factory. The RV manufacturer doesn't check them and a lot of times the dealer doesn't know how to. A&E can provide you with the switch settings or Google it and you will find the information.

Mine is the opposite...WAY too sensitive no matter how I set the switches.

Add one more to the list of frustrated consumers who just turned the wind sensor off. Mine's an A&E. I just put it out when I want it and put it in when it needs to come in. Wind sensor is a neat idea in theory but it doesn't work on mine.
