The Sterling is a cab & chassis truck too, just like the Dodge 4500/5500 chassis/cabs. It can be sent to an upfitter for a pickup bed, or a flatbed, or a utility bed, or ... whatever you like.
The Sterlings come with some things as standard equipment that are optional on the Dodge. Other than that, they are the same truck, except for the grille and badging. I like the Sterling grille.

Since we are comparing two varieties of apples here with the Dodge 4500-5500 and the Bullet knock-off through Sterling, what would the purchase price of two comparably equipped models from each brand come too.
Lets take two comparably 5500 sized models of Dodge and Bullet, both with Aisin and PTO and just the Cab chassis, same equipment.......no beds of any kind?
Now if the Dodge is considerably cheaper, but doesn't have the prettier grill of the bullet, is this an important factor?
Anyone with an MSRP breakdown/comparison?
BTY........My 2500 Cummins long bed, Quad, came out of Mexico and it's holding up ok.

I looked at the Sterlings and like them overall but they need air suspension for me to consider one. And a Duramax/Allison...... I was told they come from Canada.

Duramax/Allison would not be any improvement, and maybe even a step down from the medium duty Cummins and Aisin 6 speed auto. Cummins diesel engine is second to absolutely none. Just my opinions of course, but most anyone that works a truck hard will agree. Million mile Cummins engines are all over the place.
And just to clarify, I am not saying the Duramax/Allison combo is bad, in fact they are very good. I just feel in the 4500,5500 category, the superb low end torque of the six cylinder Cummins is the best engine available.
Coming from Canada wouldn't be a bad thing either IMHO.

Sterling/Dodge, Chevy/GMC. Same trucks from respective mfr, just different grills and other oddities. Why do GMC's cost more than the same thing w/ Chevy badging? Years ago GMC was always considered the beefier of the two hence the advantage to GMC. Nowdays they are basically the same, but the advantage will again always be towards GMC as far as what you get with the truck (per pkg options). Still doesn't explain why GMC's cost that more. Personally, I've always like GMC over Chevy, but w/ new body style/grill etc, I like the Chevy over the GMC. That being said, I'll still stick with Ford's SD line.....for now.

PS: GM used to make both trucks in the US and Canada (Oshawa) and heard the CA trucks were better than the US versions (????).
