My mileage doesn't seem to change with or without a load. It does however decrease when I tow.

I get roughly 15 with a Northstar pop up camper. We got a new Lance 815, and I got the same mileage for a 50-mile haul. Of course, I'm going no faster than 65. Some days I'll get 24mpg when I do 60 on the interstate, but some folks who get behind me aren't happy.

On a 6000 mile roundtrip to Alaska from Idaho this summer I got 13 mpg overall, with a heavy fully loaded camper and the DW and two doggies (but not enough poundage of salmon on the way back!)

Probably not relavant to the OP since I doubt he is thinking about a Kodiak/TopKick...but I get about 10-11 without the camper or trailer and about 8 with the camper. The trailer (maybe 2500 pounds?) is so little is doesn't seem to make any difference. We weigh about 18,500 pounds (or 21,000 with the trailer) and have 5.13 gears & 4x4. Considering the size/weight of the rig....not too bad. About the same as my old 97GMC2500 with a 5.7L gas engine. This is going 70-75MPH which is not ideal for fuel mileage either.

The 2003, DuraMax, quad cab, 4x4 gets 18 to 20 on the highway when empty and at 65 MPH and 11 to 13 loaded with Bigfoot TC and pulling a two ATV (KQ 700 Suzuki's) aluminum trailer at 60 MPH at 3,000 ft to 6,000 ft elevation.
Still kicking...just not as high.
