We use to use rv paper and now we use angel soft or something else thin. Not Charmin... We use the blue stuff from wally world. I have heard a lot about the calgon am going to try it next time. When I have had clogs I pour ice through the toilet and let it clean the clog out on the way home Mike

We use whatever we have in the house and to date we've had not problems. We do, however, attend to the tanks and ensure that they are well emptied and back-flushed. We use the GEO method for tank maintenance.

I know everyone will say ooohh but we have a can with lid. We use household paper and it goes in the trash can. When I take the main trash which is daily, I dump the bath can also.
I like to use lots of paper, kids use lots of paper as well. I have trained everyone to put paper in trash can. We camped in tent b4 the trailer and I had porta potty in the tent and that was how we did it. I did number 2 at the campsite bathroom but wife didn't like the bathrooms.
I think the key is lots of water.

Most TP is septic safe.. I'm using the good stuff, Quilted 10 ply something and 3/4 timing and NO problems.. Water is your friend, lots of water. It'll break down.

redwake wrote: picking up my first TT tomorrow, salesman says i need to buy some of their special toilet paper at first i thought he was joking but then i thought about it.
so it sounds like a good idea to get some, looking for any one to say that they don't use it and haven't had clog problems thats about all that would talk me out of it.
also wondering what kind of checmicals should be used to help it disolve if any, and what kind of foofy smell good stuff you put in the tank so it doesn't stink up the TT.
The following is based on over 26 years of owning trailers with holding tanks and more nights/trips than I can count.
1. IMHO no special TP is required or needed and is a waste of $$$$. Use what you use at home. IMHO the secret is to use LOTS of water to flush to keep things well suspended.
2. Your black tank is not a septic system and nothing is really going to "dissolve" before you flush/drain it. Your black tank is a "holding" tank and should probably be drained/flushed every week when in use and I always fill my tank up almost to the top to flush and then flush the sewer hose using the grey water tank that I close off the day before a planned black tank flush.
3. You can use the Geo method to help keeps things clean and if you use enough water ... we always double flush almost filling the bowl up when TP is used. This will help a lot in keeping the ordor down and you can use some of the blue stuff if the odor is objectionable.

I use whatever I have in the house at the time. Use lots of water when you flush solids & you'll be fine. Now if you plan on using your holding tank as a septic tank & keep stuff in there until it decomposes, then you might want to choose paper carefully. Fortunately I don't know anybody who does that. Oh ya, I don't put paper in the tank needlessly. If it's soiled it goes in the tank, otherwise it goes in a garbage can with a tight fitting lid, just like chi6488. I also flush the tank 2 or 3 extra times when I get home just for good measure.

ok i got 2 packs of the camp chem stuff or what ever it was called but going forward ill use standard paper. the dealer kind of chuckeled when i mentioned the GEO method he didn't know what it was and when i explained it to him he said no way use the chemicals that's not going to work. but based on the number of people using it here i'm thinking i trust the masses more than the stealer, i mean dealer.

My kids use wet wipes, my wife throws her stuff down there, we use whatever toilet paper we use at home, and we've had zero issues. As a matter of fact, I accidentally left the black tank valve open for 3-4 days and still got the tank flushed empty. Black tank flushers work!
