We're looking for campgrounds within a hour driving distance to Smithsonian in Washington DC. Do you have any recommendations? We will be leaving our TT and TV in the campground and driving into DC in a car. Thanks for any suggestions.

Cherry Hill RV PArk is one of our favorites. If you get a premium you can reserve it ahead of time. Always clean and friendly.

Is Cherry Hill in DC, or in Virginia or Maryland? I can't find any info on it.
Thanks

Lake Fairfax county campground is really nice and in a very quiet place on a hill. There is a lake with a water park at the bottom of the hill from this campground. No water or sewer hookups but nice lots and electricity. The location makes up for the lack of services in my opinion. My husband and I camp hosted there in May. It's about 20 miles west of DC and close to public transportation.

Ditto Lake Fairfax County Park campground (Reston, VA). They do have a potable water fill station and a dump. We've been there twice (the most recent was April) and would go back again. Nice park and quiet campground.

I've read that Cherry Hill is very close to a Metro statio, which is the best way into DC.
There's also Pohick Bay Park, which is closer than Lake Fairfax (where I'll be spending Labor Day weekend because of the water park). Just do a Google search on Pohick Bay Park. They have a few full hookups and lots of 30 amp electric only sites.

We always stay at Prince William National Forest. Travel Trailer Village
Easy access, about 2 miles off I-95 along a 4 lane divided highway near Dumfries, VA south of WDC. Very quiet, shaded, and hosts have always been very friendly and informative. Short drive to metro station. About 30 miles from the center of WDC. Tour pick up at your site. Full hook up is $28/night.
We've stayed at Cherry Hill before. It's nice but it's always been crowded and noisy. It's also over double the price of Prince William.
