We are looking for a Jayco fifth wheel with one slide (sofa/dinnette). We are looking for a hide-a-bed. My question is when I view these online with rvtrader or such, how can I tell if it has a hide-a-bed. I currently have one in the TT we have and it has three cushions. How can you tell by the pictures?

Jayco typically has a jacknife type sofabed.....no good for adults, let alone 2 people. We have a '06 BHS and it has a jacknife.

When looking at the pictures online the sofas will have 2 cushions on the bottom. Ours has the sofa bed and it is so much nicer than the jacknife.Good luck in your search!

If you are looking for a new Jayco fiver check with RVDIRECT for the model you are interested in, have them send you a quote and then ask your questions. It's as simple as asking. You want to buy and I can assure you that they want to sell! You may have to special order what you want but that is no problem.

A sofa bed has a pullout mattress bed, a jack knife sofa folds into a bed, with the uncomfortable 3 cushions to sleep on! Usually, but not always the sofa bed had permanent arms, the jack knife has either no arms or removeable cushions/pillows for arms. Jayco does have RVs with either. I you're loking for used...You need to make a list of the year and models you find, and go to Jayco's website, where they have archived years of Jayco models that you can look at the standard/optional equipment and see which sofa they have. "J-Steel convertable sofa" for example, which is a Jack Knife, or a "Hide-a-bed sofa with foot rest" which is the sofa bed.

Or call Jayco Customer Service and ask!

Do you -really- want or need a sofa bed or jack-knife sofa?
(or a couch / sofa of any kind)

Many folks (self included) removed it.

This is what I've seen in our trailers.

Hi, twins89!

We just got an '09 Jayco Super Light 28.5 rls with one slide containing the sofa and dinette. The sofa is the J steel convertible bed and folds open like a futon bed about 15" high. The bed comes with a 6" thick inflatable mattress that has the ability to adjust the firmness to your comfort level. During our initial "shake down cruise" last weekend we inflated the bed and laid on it, and it is MUCH more comfortable than the jack-knife hide-a-bed our previous TT had...no support bar jabbing you in the back!

Happy shopping!

PS: The U of Buffalo has a former Husker coaching for them. Turner Gill was not only an excellent FB QB, but is an exceptional human being! Hope things go well for the team!

We also have a 2009 Eagle Superlite. the fold out bed is an otion (about $500)with an Aerobed inflatable mattress with its own onboard compressor with inflate/deflate button controller. DW's cousin visited last weekend and slept on it. She said it was comfortable.

You dont indicate what year or size. I believe what they provide is dependent on those factors. Many are now using the self inflating Airbeds rather than mattresses and jackknife futons. If looking at used - they may mostly be the futon style.
